Shunti Tambli / Ground Fresh Ginger in Yogurt

I just love the taste and aroma of fresh ginger. Today I will be sharing the easy ginger recipe  which is very good for health,specially good for digestion. For this recipe we need very few ingredients and You will be done within few mins !!

Serves 1-2

Prep Time + Cook Time : Only 5 minutes


Ingredients :
1-2 tsp chopped fresh ginger (peel the outer skin before you chop)
1/2 green chilly 
salt
2-3 tbsp grated fresh coconut/coconut flakes
1/2 cup - 3/4 cup fresh yogurt/curd
1 tsp chopped coriander leaves (optional)
water little 

For seasoning:
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp urad dal
1/2 tsp jeera
1-2 dry red chilly cut into halves
8-10 curry leaves
2 tsp cooking oil (preferably coconut oil)

How To Prepare?
  • Grind chopped ginger, green chilly, coconut and salt into a smooth paste and transfer it to a mixing bowl.
  • Whisk curd well and add it to the same mixing bowl [Add little water to the curd if required ]. Mix well using a spatula. 
  • Now prepare the seasoning in separate pan. Heat oil,add in mustard seeds. After mustard seeds pop out, add in other seasoning ingredients as mentioned above. Saute for few secs and add the hot seasoning on top of the dish. Give a nice stir.Garnish with coriander leaves before you serve. This goes well with Warm Rice and pappadam.
Note/Alternative:
  • You can use butter milk instead of curd. Do not use sour curd/buttermilk. 
  • You can also put the curd in mixer and make it thin.
