Udupi Saaru/Rasam plays an important role in udupi cusine being main part of ಉಡುಪಿ ಊಟ (udupi meal). This recipe describes "How to prepare authentic udupi style rasam powder??". This can be prepared at home easily. Here we go with the recipe.
Want to know how to prepare Udupi Rasam ??
Makes 12-14 tsp of rasam powder
Ingredients :
2 tsp fenugreek seeds
1 and 1/2 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
8 tsp coriander seeds
5-7 dry red chilies ( you can increase/ decrease as per your choice)
10-12 curry leaves
1/2 tsp coconut oil / any cooking oil
How To Prepare?
- Heat a oil in kadai , Add in coriander seeds,fenugreek seeds, red chilly and roast till you get a nice aroma. (Do not over fry )
- Add in cumin seeds and curry leaves and roast everything together for few more secs and switch off the flame. ( I add cumin seeds at the end, because if you over roast them it will leave some medicinal smell). Keep the roasted spices to cool down.
- After the roasted ingredients completely cools down, grind them into fine powder.Store the powder in a clean container and use it whenever required.
