Have you tasted tiny Idlis??? I just love these small Idlis. Scan through the menu of any darshinis/hotels specially in Bangalore, you will find this special Idli for sure. There are many names to this Mini Idli .... Bullet Idli ....Button Idli. !!
All we need is Mini Idli plate/mold and IDLI batter. We will prepare these mini Idlis in similar manner as we prepare normal idlis.
Ingredients:
Idli batter (Check out How to Prepare the Batter for Mini Idli ?)
4-5 tbsp water (if required).
2-3 tbsp oil
How To Prepare ?
- Get the batter to a right consistency by adding 4-5 tbsp of water if required.( It is always good to have right consistency before fermenting itself ).Grease the Idli plates with little oil.Pour the idli batter to idli plates using a spoon.
- Add water to pressure cooker/idli cooker and keep the flame in medium. As soon as water boils, keep the idli plates inside and close the cooker.(If you are using pressure cooker , please don't put the weight). All we have to do is , steam these idlis for about 15-18 minutes.
- You will get a nice smell of Idli after 15 minutes.Now switch off the flame and leave it for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes open the cooker and keep the idli plates out.Let it cool down little bit(approximately around 1-2 minutes).Now using a spoon slowly take out the idlis.
- How To Serve? Pour hot Tiffin Sambar into a bowl. Add 8-10 mini idlis to it. Now pour spoonful of ghee on top. Serve this delicious mini idlis with coconut chutney. You can garnish with chopped coriander leaves and chopped onions on top too.
